The Tahoe Daily Tribune reports police plan increased enforcement efforts in Placerville and South Lake Tahoe as part of the Avoid the 6 DUI Campaign. As we reported recently in one of our blogs, the four-day weekend is the last major holiday bash of the winter season. Tourists from out of town and local residents will face an increased risk of being pulled over and charged with drunk driving in Lake Tahoe or Reno.

St. Patrick’s Day is a religious holiday celebrated on March 17 since the 17th Century. While it is a national holiday in Ireland, it has become one of the most popular secular holidays in the United States. And the St. Patrick’s Day parade in Henderson is one of the largest parades in the State of Nevada. Since 1991, March has been proclaimed Irish-American Heritage Month by the U.S. Congress.

We believe those facing DUI charges in Reno or Lake Tahoe deserve immediate access to affordable, high-quality legal representation, that’s why Joey Gilbert & Associates Ltd offers first-time drunk driving defense from $999.

A first-time DUI offense in Nevada is punishable by up to 6 months in jail, 96 hours of community service and more than $1,000 in fines. Your driver’s license will typically be suspended for 90 days and you can be made to pay for DUI school, a victim’s impact panel and drug or alcohol treatment. Those arrested for drunk driving in California for the first time face up to 6 months in jail, a $1,000 fine, a six-month driver’s license suspension and mandatory DUI school. An ignition interlock device may also be required.

YubaNet reports that authorities in Nevada County, California, Grass Valley and Nevada City are deploying roving DUI saturation patrols. Such tactics by law enforcement increase the risk of marginal arrest. It also increases the chances that a motorist will be stopped without the adequate probable cause required by law.
